We’re Officially Open
It was one of the busiest polling stations in the WA State elections, and now we want to give a ‘vote of thanks’ to those who came to the official launch of Perron Place on election day, Saturday 13 March.
Nearly 8,000 people cast their vote at booths in Perron Place’s Handa Hall across a two-week period as it became one of WA’s early voting centres in the State election.
Following the success of early voting, Perron Place was officially launched with an all-inclusive family festival attended by community members and supporters from far and wide.
Mayor of Victoria Park, Karen Vernon, officially cut the ribbon to declare Perron Place open. She was joined by VisAbility Ltd CEO Elizabeth Barnes and Perron Place Program Manager Jodi Lendrum.
“We are so excited to have launched Perron Place to the community and humbled by the support and interest shown in our fabulous facility. We look forward to soon offering an exciting range of community programs that will complement our current room hire bookings. Knowing that any participation, be it booking a space or participating in a program, you are supporting the work of VisAbility and contributing to help improve the lives of people with low or no vision.”
Elizabeth Barnes, VisAbility Ltd CEO
There were facility tours, face painting, a cake stall, a guess the number of jellybeans in a jar competition, as well as an opportunity to meet Guide Dogs WA ambassador dogs. The launch was held in the pleasant surroundings of our garden area and people were kept entertained by the VisAbility band Grand Delusions.
We also had a competition to win a team-building event at Perron Place and we’re delighted to announce that the winner is Dawn from Directions.
Perron Place is an innovative and collaborative space that combines events, conferences and community activities for people of all ages and abilities. It offers corporate events, leisure facilities, and community programs and activities.
All proceeds support the vital services VisAbility Ltd provides to the WA community through its VisAbility, Kites Children’s Therapy and Guide Dogs WA services.
Perron Place staff hosted tours of the facilities, so people could see the corporate room hire on offer, and planned leisure and craft programs due to commence this year. If you’re looking to develop new skills and want to meet like-minded people, complete the expression of interest form and be kept up to date.
A big thank you to Guide Dogs WA, Kites Children’s Therapy and Goalball Western Australia for being a part of our special event.
Couldn’t make it on the day? If you’d like to view our facilities or want to know more, contact our friendly staff. We’d love to hear from you.
We look forward to welcoming you on your next visit to Perron Place.
